Specializing in

Diabetes & Endocrinology

Our goal is to provide you with unparalleled medical insight, personalized service and compassionate care. Dr. Shapse sees all of his patients himself. We strive to stay on schedule to keep your waiting time to a minimum. We work closely with our patients to provide a comprehensive treatment plan to help manage their conditions effectively.

Patients are seen by appointment only. Walk-Ins without an appointment will be seen as the schedule allows. Please note that patients with a scheduled appointment have FIRST PRIORITY. However, we will never turn away an emergency.

Please let us know 24 hours in advance if you cannot make your appointment. No-shows will be charged a $25 cancellation fee.

New prescriptions we be issued only by the doctor, and absolutely requires an office visit. Routine renewals may be made at the time of your office visit or may be requested by phone, as long as they are not a Schedule II or Schedule III controlled substance. As we now have e-prescriptions, please provide us with the name and number of your pharmacy so that renewals may be done more efficiently online.

Renewal of Tranquilizers and Pain Medications (Schedule II and Schedule III drugs) will only be done at a face to face office visit, as these prescriptions are now required by Florida law to be issued on special, counterfeit-proof prescription blanks.

If there is an EMERGENCY please **Dial 911**

Do NOT waste valuable time trying to call the office. Time is of the essence.

If you feel that you have an URGENT PROBLEM but don’t think you need to go to the hospital, please STATE THIS CLEARLY so we can deal with your problem promptly.

As of April 14, 2001, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, known simply as HIPAA, came into effect. Basically, this law is meant to safeguard the confidentiality of your medical records and your privacy. This office is HIPAA compliant and will abide by all those requirements as set out by law. In practical terms, this means that in most cases, we cannot discuss your health issues by phone, but will need to see you in the office face to face. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

This office accepts Medicare, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and United Healthcare. We currently provide Endocrinology-only services for Humana.  Co-Pays and deductibles may be made by Cash, Check or VISA-Mastercard. These payments are due at the time of service. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

While no longer making hospital rounds, Dr. Shapse has maintained his affiliations with Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center.  If you should require hospitalization for an acute illness, Dr. Shapse has designated physicians to admit and care for you while in the hospital.  This way, continuity of care will be maintained.
